Matters Arising :

  1. Fire Brigade: Les has been unable to speak to David Gill for an update, but it has been noted that work has begun on the temporary site.
  2. Richard Cairns and Harold Yates have been notified about the ongoing problem with the potholes between Staffin and Portree. Sylvia also asked that he be notified again regarding the state of the Bealach road.
  3. Village Officer: A letter has been received from Harold Yates regarding the funding for a village officer again this year. There will be a minimum of £630 available. Les will inform Harold that we are interested.
  4. Bins at Slip: Still need securing
  5. No Camping Sign: A sign appeared, but disappeared overnight. Iain will speak with Harold Yates to find out what is happening. The original sign was placed in a bad spot, at the rear of the car park at the cattle grid by the river. If cars were parked in the car park, the sign couldn't be seen. It was suggested that it be placed on the pole at the side of the cattle grid at the end of the bridge.
  6. Scottish Exec aged population survey: completed
  7. New Police Inspector Portree: The new inspector is Donald MacLean. Les is hoping to have a meeting with him in the near future.
  8. Gesto Hospital : It has now closed, but a letter was sent informing the action group of our support
  9. Web Site: The community Council and the trust now have a web site, which is WWW.STAFFIN.NET . All minutes from both meetings will be on the website which is maintained by Angus. We decided to save time and paper that unless people on the mailing list particularly want a paper copy we will not be providing them.

  11. Caravan Ellishadder: Planning office are aware and monitoring occupancy

In order to save money the library network are reducing the number of library vans. Therefore the service will run every 3 weeks instead of 2 weeks as at present.
