Minutes of Staffin Community Council held in Staffin School on 1 st March 2005

The minutes of the previous meeting were proposed by Sheena and seconded by Janet.

Matters Arising:

  1. Abandoned cars: Abandoned vehicles still there. The truck at Valtos has had the 7-day notice and is awaiting the council to remove it. Les to check with Richard Cairns to see if there is any time scale
  1. NVA Event: No new news at this time. There is an informal meeting at Whitewave on Friday 18 th March at 6-30pm followed by a ceilidh at Kilmuir Hall at 8pm.
  1. Staffin Surgery: the nurses cottage is now back in use. Matter closed
  1. Bus timetables: Rapsons never got back to us. To wait now until the new timetable comes out on 26 th March to see if our recommendations have been taken into account
  1. Village Officer: Matter closed
  1. NHS 24: Angus has done a poster regarding the complaints procedure which is now in both shops
  1. Designing for sustainability consultative draft: Nothing relevant to us. Closed
  1. Road around Duntulm: matter to stay open until the road opens
  1. Donation to Welfare bus: Letter of thanks received

Treasurers Report

£1030-43 in the bank at present. No bills or cheques outstanding.

H/C Business

The community Councils AGM is to be held at the Broadford Hotel on 22/3/05

H/C minutes: Nothing of relevance, and no takers

Planning Applications

Stenscholl Common Grazing - an agricultural byre on Maligar Road – no objections

Update: regarding temporary Fire Stn at Staffin, since our meeting on Tuesday we have received documentation from the planning committee that the planning application has been refused. We will try and find out more information for our next meeting.

New Local Plan

To invite Tim Scott to our next meeting to explain the new local planning rules and regs.

Museum Service Open Days

The museum service is having an open day on Friday 18 th March 10am to 7pm and Saturday 19 th 10am to 6pm

NHS Patient Focus: There is a meeting at Inverness Thistle Hotel on 19 th March- no takers

Scottish Water: Water rates have been increased by 2.8%

Local Channel: www.thelocalchannel.uk has been set up for community councils to inform people

what is going on in the community. It also needs an administrator to update it. It

needs looking into.

Bridge Tolls: A letter has been received about reinstating some sort of bridge tolls. It was suggested

that any profit goes into the South Skye economy. Our feeling is that this should have

been sorted prior to the tolls being removed, and why the economy of South Skye

The Caravan that has appeared in the old quarry at Rigg: Sylvia to ask PC Martin to have a look

Application to Let: Forms to fill in our meetings held in the school. Sylvia taken to complete and return to Norma

Donations: A discussion was held regarding two donations. It was decided that the Hall Association and the School (for new library books) would both receive £200.
