Minutes of Staffin Community Council held in Staffin School 6 th September 2005

Minutes of the previous meeting were approved by Mrs J Lamont and seconded by Mrs S MacLeod

 

Matters Arising:

  1. Abandoned cars: This item is now closed

 

  1. Fire Brigade: Still awaiting information – Item to remain open

 

  1. Insurance: Still awaiting further information – Item to remain open

 

  1. A855: It was noted that some work has been carried out, but it is hoped that more will be done.

  1. Village Officer: An application for funding has been submitted but as yet there is no response.

It was agreed that we should ascertain which councils have been successful.

There are no outstanding bills and the balance stands at £1130-04.

Other Correspondence:

  1. Letter of introduction was received from Mr Harold Yates, recently appointed Roads and Works Manager
  2. Mr B Peppe and Mr J Whyte have been recently elected to the local access forum representing the interests of Community Councils
  3. Awards for young peoples projects are on offer from “here to help” organisation. No action
  4. H/C Quality awards. It was agreed to nominated Richard Blain for his work in the aftermath of the January Storms
  5. There will be an open meeting in Staffin Hall on 24 th October from 4pm to 8pm to discuss the new local plan. Donald Kennedy footpaths officer will be in attendance. Planning officer Tim Stott wishes to know if Council members will be able to attend
  6. Minutes of the H/C area meeting on 3 rd July
  7. Local boundaries commission. It was noted that Skye would be ward 11 with 4 elected members. Electoral maps can be seen at Tigh na Sgire
  8. Scottish water. There will be a meeting in Inverness on 20 th September to report on their progress to date
  9. Smoking: Information leaflet for businesses on anti-smoking law
  10. Minutes of Portree High School Board
  11. Highland Domestic Abuse - Zero tolerance posters received
  12. Renewable Energy Conference 20 th and 21 st September Mr A MacLeod expressed an interest
  13. NHS – information on clinic and team update

 

AOCB:

Broadband. This will now be available at the end of November; Mr Angus MacLeod was able to give information on the technicalities of the system

The next meeting will be at 7-30pm on Tuesday 4 th October 2005 at the school (to be confirmed)
