The Islands Book Trust, 'Island Industries' – Skye and The Outer Hebrides, Columba 1400, Staffin. The 2-day event will focus on and compare some of the attempts to promote industrial development in Skye and the Outer Hebrides.
Speakers from both sides of the Minch and beyond: Fred Silver (Lewis), Norman MacDonald (Skye), Roddy MacDonald (South Uist), Cambell Grant (Skye), Roger Miket (Northumberland).
The conference will start at 6.30pm on Friday amd close at 5.00pm on Saturday at Columba 1400. Saturday afternoon will be a visit to the remains of the local diatomite mine and associated railway and ropeway.
All inclusive fee (all sessions, dinner, lunch, accommodation) £50, £15 for all sessions, £5 for individual sessions. Meals available for £5/lunch and £10/dinner. Accommodation in local B&B for £22 on 9th May.
