| Your Braeside school boots came from Forrest or Hogg Stratminglo. But in the spring and summer it was far more fun to go to school barefoot. There was no such thing as sandshoes and it was far easier to outrun your friends in your bare feet, even if the roads were rough. Although the discarding of boots on the way to school was a matter kept from parents, as spring progressed it was very rare to see a child at school with shoes on. You left your boots and socks in a culvert for the whole of the school day. | |
