| This question brings in the archaeologists who tell us that Stafainn was inhabited 6,500 years Before Christ. The discovery that man was here so long ago only came to light in the 1990s when a shell midden was excavated at Saile, a rockface at Stafainn slip. The site is a mesolithic one - an era inhabited by the middle stone age peoples. They were hunter/gatherers, and nomads. The site on the Slip there gives us the earliest evidence to date of human activity on Skye, the island. | |
