Title Ho ro nighean donn, hug o |
Ho ro nighean donn hug o Thug mi rùn dhuit is gràdh 'S bithidh mi tuilleadh ga do chaoidh A h-uile h-oidhche agus là. 'S ann aig ceann Loch Phortrìgh A tha mo ribhinn a tamh Cas as grìnne theid am broig Beul is boidhche a ni gàir'. Ho ro Fhlòraidh 'ic a' Phì Tha thu 'g innse le pròis Gun tug mi fainne dhuit 's ùr S gu robh mi fhìn ort an toir. 'S bhon a chuir thu gaoil ruim cùl 'S bhon a dhuilt thu mo phòig Feuch nach taobh thu ri fear donn Fear bhitheas trom air an òl. Chaidh a' chuibhle mun cuairt Le car fiaraidh neo dhà Chaidh an comunn mu sgaoil 'S rinn mo ghaol orm tàir. |

Sloinneadh Niall Mhurchaidh Neill from Brogaig
Biography A Nicolson of Brogaig is remembered for his music and imagination. He was Neil Nicolson, or, rather, Nìall Mhurcaidh Néill. He was a brother of the grandmother of Alec 'Bhalots' Macdonald. He was born in 1884 to a musical, artistic family. When he came home he fished and worked the croft. He was well known for his skills in healing sick animals. He was even better known as a bàrd, though. He had been a sailor for most of his life. And when he returned home, he fished and worked the croft until he died at 67 years. Like his father before him, he composed many lovely songs. Only a few have survived.
