Ho ro air nighean donn nam meall shùil Ho ro air cailinn dluth rium thaobh Ho ro air nighean donn nam meall shùil 'S trom an galair leam do ghaol. Na m bitheadh agam bata biorach 'S ceathrar ghillean le'n cuid ramh 'S mi a' seòladh thar na linne Dh'fhaicinn robh mo chruinneag slàn. Nuair a dh'éireas mi sa mhadainn 'S gann gu leir dhomh bad den fhraoch 'S gann gu léir dhomh lorg mo leannan Brogan tana 's barailt chaol. Bho Chlann Dòmhnaill tha do shloinneadh Clann Mhic Coinnich 'n dara taobh 'S ged a chuireadh cach ort coire Coir' cha deanainn ort a chaoidh. Sloinneadh Niall Mhurchaidh Neill from Brogaig
Biography A Nicolson of Brogaig is remembered for his music and imagination. He was Neil Nicolson, or, rather, Nìall Mhurcaidh Néill. He was a brother of the grandmother of Alec 'Bhalots' Macdonald. He was born in 1884 to a musical, artistic family. When he came home he fished and worked the croft. He was well known for his skills in healing sick animals. He was even better known as a bàrd, though. He had been a sailor for most of his life. And when he returned home, he fished and worked the croft until he died at 67 years. Like his father before him, he composed many lovely songs. Only a few have survived.
