A number of years ago - when Staffin men were working at Uig pier, Tommy Elder of Brogaig was waiting for a pair of false teeth to arrive in the post. He was undoubtedly surprised though when a parcel arrived for him at Uig pier. Nobody got parcels then and never at their place of work. When Tommy opened the box, what was inside but a sheep's skull, bearing teeth. If you've ever looked one in the eye you can imagine that at close range it was a very funny thing to receive in a parcel. The men surely had a good laugh that day. Such good fun lightened people's chores. And seemingly, that skull did the rounds amongst the people of Stafainn.
