Translation the correct name for Flodigarry Island. |

Description Alt describes a high place, which this island is and vik is norse for bay. Another name for the island was Eilean a' Chinn Mhóir. There is a story told of a bull, belonging to Iain Ruadh who lived on the island with his daughter, that used to swim each night from the island to Flodigarry to get its fill of corn before returning to the island before dawn. A monk called Duros was also said to have a cell here and the stretch of water between the island and Flodigarry is called Poll Doruis. |
