Description Coinneach MacGhilliosa from Digg was said to have got a premonition at this location once when crossing from Uig with a colleague. Whilst descending the pass he suddenly sat down and complained of feeling ill. After a period he continued his journey without mentioning to his colleague what he had seen. They carried on to Digg via an Dłn Beag and, on arrival there, were told that a young girl was missing. Although they had travelled a considerable distance they decided to join the search and carried on to Flodigarry. It was thought that the missing girl had attempted to follow her parents who had gone visiting to Flodigarry. On route they discovered that the girl had been found, drowned in a small loch (see Loch na h-nighean). Coinneach's friend removed his coat and the body was laid out on the coat and carried home. Later Coinneach explained that what he had seen earlier in the day as they descended Bealach Chual a' Scairt was a light on the back of his colleague which he realised was a bad omen. Another incident was recorded about Coinneach's second sight. Once when attending a wedding he saw a death shroud on the bride. Again, the worst was to happen as the poor woman died some months later giving birth to her first child. |
