Placename Bodha Ruaraidh |
Translation a fishing rock, named after Ruaraidh Beag. |
Description Ruaraidh beag was out fishing lobster with colleagues when the weather turned bad. Their boat was laden with creels which made her top-heavy. Needing to drop the creels Ruaraidh suggested that this particular site was suitable but his colleagues believed the water to be too deep, 'bathaidh sinn iad' and that the creels would be lost. However, Ruaraidh believed there was a reef at this location and so the creels were let go. As hoped, the creels hit the bottom with enough rope free to the marker buoys. On returning to collect the creels they found that each creel had a good fishing. Ruaraidh was then credited with having found this site. The reef stretches from an Eaglais Bhreugach to the south side of the Lealt river. |
