Description A name given by Aonghas Ruaraidh, to an area of Stenscholl that includes tigh 'n bhain, tigh Dhomhnaill Uisdean, tigh Mairi Anna Thormod Ruaraidh and tigh 'n Eoin. It is said, that at one time, during the communions, more people left these houses to attend the evening prayer meeting of the Free Presbyterians than attend the Church today. It was common practice for people to travel great distances, sometimes on foot, to attend communion. Whilst there they would be given hospitality within the community before travelling back home after the evening service. These were times that were looked forward to as old aquaintances were renewed, and often children would meet relatives they rarely met. |
