Description The hall was built in 1984 with £28,000 raised in the community itself. The balance of the £150,000 spent to build the facility came from the Highlands and Islands Development Board, Scottish Education Department and Highland Regional Council. To introduce extra funding to the project and to attempt to create employment within the community a co-operative was set up under the name of Co-chomunn Stafainn. The co-operative paid an advance rental to the Hall Association to give extra funds to build the facility and in return received space to operate a shop and restaurant. Additional funds were also raised as local people bought £25.00 shares in the co-operative. |
